报告题目:Genetic control of water use and water capture in horticultural crops

报告人简介:

Professor Andrew J. Thompson is head of Cranfield Soil and Agrifood Institute, Cranfield University. His research is driven by the need to understand the molecular and genetic basis of drought stress and water-use efficiency in crop plants. A long-term research interest is the molecular biology of plant hormone synthesis, signalling and action, with emphasis on genetic manipulation of abscisic acid biosynthesis and the key step in this pathway, 9-cis-epoxycarotenoid dioxygenase. He also collaborate with chemists on aspects of plant hormone synthesis, including the chemical biologyof carotenoid cleavage dioxygenases, and recent research activity focuses on molecular geneticanalysis of traits related to drought, water-use and water capture in the model crops Brassica and tomato.
